Hey, Bobby, Film My Butt: Home Movie Day at the Hideout
Home Movie Day is an international event that has finally arrived in Austin. The purpose of the day is to celebrate amateur filmmaking (read: home videos) and instruct people as to how to preserve their cherished celluloid memories.
Don’t believe us? Well, we bet you wouldn’t doubt John Waters, would ya?
“There’s no such thing as a bad home movie…Home Movie Day is an orgy of self-discovery, a chance for family memories to suddenly become show business. If you’ve got one, whip it out and show it now,” Waters said.
Celebrate and learn more about film at Austin’s Home Movie Day at the Hideout Theatre. You will have the opportunity to screen your favorite movies, laugh/cringe at others’ and learn more about how to make sure you pass the treasures on to the next generation. Participants are encouraged to introduce and narrate their own films. Don’t have a film to screen? Don’t sweat it. Come and watch your friends’ and neighbors’ films
In order to screen your favorite family films, your films must be on 8, Super 8 or 16 mm
