Brentwood Tavern: It's Casual

Calling all occupants of the Brentwood, Allandale, and Crestview neighborhoods: there is a new place in town for your casual dining needs. It's the place that used to be The Stone House Grill, a stone house (huh) of sorts on Burnet Road in the enclave of businesses that also features Dog Almighty (review coming soon!) and G & J's barbeque.
The menu is nothing special--burgers, sandwiches, and the apparently necessary showing of tex-mex items. Some nice touches include sandwiches made from bread baked at the nearby San Francisco bakery, a spacious outdoor patio, and fast and friendly service. The prices are cheap to average. Our grilled cheese was offered with fries at $4.95. Most dishes seem to be in the $6.95-$8.95 range.
It just opened on June 8th, so customers are witnessing groups of young waitstaff looking longingly at empty tables. Help them out, folks. Support your local businesses! Chili's sucks, anyway.
Brentwood Tavern is located at 6701 Burnet Road in Austin.

You're right on about the food and feel. they also have great bands (really), washers, a jungle-gym for kids.

It's one of my favorites. My boyfriend and I are regulars. Try the Mullet Burger or Fish Tacos. Yumm!!!!
