Carrot Top Net Worth

Carrot Top, also known as Scott Tompson, is an American stand-up comedian famous for his unusual comedic approach and bright red hair.

Comedians and entertainers are known to earn handsomely, but how much do you think Carrot Top is worth? (spoiler, it’s in the realm of millions).

Carrot Top’s Net Worth

As of 2024, Carrot Top’s fortune is around $75 million. The comedian spent over 30 years honing his skills and perfecting his craft. His fortune didn’t start to pile up for many years at the beginning of his career.

His comedic style isn’t for everyone. While some people find him extremely funny, others find him average or mediocre. However, one thing is for sure: Carrot Top managed to succeed, at least financially.

Oh, and he may not look like it at all, but Carrot Top is nearly 60 years old at the time of writing!

Carrot Top was born Scott Thompson in 1965 in Florida. His father, Larry Thompson, was an engineer who worked on the Gemini and Apollo missions (Yes, the NASA expeditions), which exposed young Scott to the world of science and innovation.

Still, despite his expectation to pursue a technical career because of his father’s job, Scott’s very different kind of creativity emerged.

The story began when he acquired his nickname in Cocoa High School. A local swimming coach noticed his bright red hair and called him “Carrot Top,” a nickname currently more known to people than his actual name.

The nickname stuck, but Scott wasn’t all about swimming. He found his creativity in the school’s marching and concert band, honing the rhythmic skills he later used in his stand-up routines.

Soon after graduating in 1983, Carrot Top enrolled at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. That’s where Scott discovered his passion for stand-up comedy. He took a leap of faith and participated in his first stand-up routine as a first-year student.

The exact details of how that show went are not well-known. However, it indeed marked a pivotal moment for Carrot Top’s Career.

Carrot Top's Rise to Fame

In the late 1980s, Scott started embracing his nickname “Carrot Top” and began honing his skills in the fertile ground of the Florida stand-up scene.

He experimented with different humor styles until he had a unique blend of physical humor, offbeat observations, and his now-famous collection of crazy props.

His dedication paid off generously in 1991 when he landed his big break on the national TV show, “Comic Strip Live.”

This appearance and a successful run on “Star Search” acted as his launch pad. Millions of viewers saw his performance for the first time, and it’s no stretch to say that his unique “craziness” resonated with audiences.

Just look at how crazy and random he gets, and it’ll surely make you smile.

Carrot Top’s career wasn’t just about bright lights and wacky props. His consistency over three decades and dedicated effort allowed him to become a well-known (and well-loved) TV persona.

His comedy isn’t confined to the stage. He’s a familiar face on television, appearing on various shows.

Shows like “The Tonight Show” and popular sitcoms like “Scrubs” are no strangers to Carrot Top’s appearances. He’s also participated in festive specials like “Larry the Cable Guy’s Christmas Spectacular.”

He also made some appearances in the acting side. He’s appeared in films like “Chairman of the Board” and “Dennis the Menace Strikes Again!” showcasing his comedic timing in a scripted format.

At the time of writing, Carrot Top has performed nearly 4,000 shows for over 1 million guests. Some extra of his appearance include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Criss Angel Mindfreak
  • Gene Simmons: The Family Jewels
  • Space Ghost Coast to Coast
  • The Aristocrats

Carrot Top’s Primary Income Sources

Carrot Top’s Primary Income Sources

Carrot Top made much money through his appearances on TV shows and films. However, his primary source of income comes from his performance in Las Vegas’s Luxor Hotel and Casino.

He has been performing there since 2005. It all started with a two-year contract, which quickly evolved.

Carrot’s exact words were: “I agreed to do another two years, making it a three-year deal, and at that point, we got into a groove. It wouldn’t make any sense for me not to be in Vegas. Then I agreed to a five-year deal.” Then it became a 10-year deal, and now it’s been 16 years and counting.”

Despite having a solid appearance on stage, too little is known about Carrot Top’s personal life. What we do know, however, is that he has been in a long-term relationship with the travel enthusiast and business owner Amanda Hogan since 2014.

They likely met in Las Vegas. It’s not confirmed, but this assumption is because her company is stationed there.

Final Words

Carrot Top may not be among the top 10 or 20 most-paid stand-up comedians. He is, however, more affluent than many people even dream of becoming.

With a net worth of $75 million, Scott isn’t lacking in the money game. Also, even at almost 60, he can still make people laugh their socks off. In other words, even if his quirky comedy style may not be for everyone, it’s certainly in demand and is there to stay.
