The Black Crowes are accusing Maxim Magazine of writing a review of their record without actually listening to it. When Busey Attacks: Gary Busey crashes the Oscars, much to the chagrin of Ryan Seacrest. Over the weekend, Hillary Clinton provides the public with further evidence that she's basically already lost by doing the one thing she shouldn't do: Go even MORE negative. Check this video footage from Rhode Island last Saturday... Ralph Nader's running for President again. We guess he's just bored or something. What other reason could he possibly have?...

As everyone waits for the laundry list of over 1,500+ bands that SXSW should release late this week or early next (going by last year), here are a few bits of SX news to tide you over. - This Crowe Has Flown: The Black Crowes have canceled their appearance at Stubb's. This is likely because (a) they have a record deal, (b) they have a loyal fanbase, (c) critics have already judged them for better or worse, and thus, (d) there was no reason for them to play SX in the first place. - Okkervil River w/ Roky Erickson: In a move that will draw in some tourists along with the locals, the Austin Music Awards will feature Okkervil and Roky - playing together - as a headliner. Let's just say that this will be trippy and special. ...

Because we're all hoping they'll finally find their audience (aside from our moms) and land a record deal, The Black Crowes have announced their 2008 tour, which includes a stop at SXSW 2008. They will headline at Stubb's, no less. Keep your fingers crossed for them, folks. In other news, we've received word on a handful of local bands that have been accepted by SXSW, including (but not limited to) The Lemurs, Peel, Weird Weeds, Car Stereo (Wars) and almost local rapper Bun B of UGK (Houston). We'll be updating with local additions as often as we can, so stay tuned!...

Although Austin isn’t without its own freak-folkiness, former Texans Devendra Banhart and Jana Hunter will be journeying to La Zona Rosa on October 7th to present their own take on the genre for what has become a burgeoning fan base. Banhart, as close to a superstar as an acid-folk rocker can be, is supporting his newest album Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon, which features contributions from surprising sources including Nick Valensi of The Strokes, actor......

It's the your favorite bartender at Sao Paulo, or the girl in the cutoffs at El Chilito. It's the smokin' UPS guy, or one of the Lone Star Rollergirls. It's your local secret crush. It's hard to believe that it's been over sixteen years since Linklater's Slacker edified the collective and individual characters that make Austin, well, Austin. Although Liberty Lunch is long gone, the people that make our city great remain. And what......

I can't believe that one week from today, it will all be over - and I'll be waking up and getting ready to fly home to Nashville. But I guess I should just focus on getting through the next four days... and it's going to be hard, because something tells me I'm going to distracted to the point of being completely useless this week at work. Anyway, here's your Monday morning dose of ACL......

"Psychedelics are almost irrelevant in a town where you can wander in a casino any time in the day or night and witness the crucifixion of a gorilla.*" We know you people love your fests, and while ACL may be a tough bill to beat, sometimes it's nice to get out of town. The Vegoose Music Festival in Las Vegas combines gambling, strippers, soon-to-be divorced men, all night parties and rock n' roll into......
