Commented on Putting A Leash On Auditorium Shores
Having a park like Auditorium Shores in the middle of town is one of the reasons why I like living in central Austin. If this city is serious about encouraging people to live downtown it needs to provide substitutes for...

Commented on Mortgaging Our Future to Build a Highway to Nowhere
Shilli, do you have any sources that indicate this would be for funding TTC development? After 30 mins of poking around, I haven't been able to verify that at all. Not advocating a 'yes' vote, just trying to get my...

Commented on Microbrew Roundup: 5 to Try on a Hot Summer Day
Ah, didn't make the connection - duh! With that said, Fireman's #4 is great, it's good to see that so many places have it around town. I especially like drawing pictures of Firemen when I order it at the Alamo....

Commented on Microbrew Roundup: 5 to Try on a Hot Summer Day
Session is also great on a hot day, it's my summer beer of choice, but I've never seen it on tap anywhere. Plus, the bottles are only 11oz so you can never have just one, or you'll be left dreaming...

Commented on Feature Review: the New Pornographers Challengers
Agreed that Twin Cinema is better. Agreed that Myriad Harbor sounds like a Pixies track, but I don't think it is the best (and definitely not the pop-iest) on the album. Overall I like the album though, feels even more...

Commented on TXDOT: Local Highway Construction Estimate Now $2.5B
Here's an idea: make the toll road pay for the improvements that will make the toll road valuable (#2 and #3 from statesman graphic), instead of making taxpayers foot the bill for it. Just saved you $1.5 billion! I'm on...

Commented on News Bits!
Right. But this is not an example of abuse of Net Neutrality - this is plain old censorship, just like can happen on TV or radio, newspapers, etc. AT&T's ability to censor Pearl Jam's political viewpoints has nothing to do...

Commented on News Bits!
The Pearl Jam thing had nothing to do with Net Neutrality - it was plain old censorship. In addition, AT&T has come out and said it was a mistake and wrong, and they have apologized. More importantly though, to hell...

Commented on Regarding Chester's
I heard on KUT this morning that this ordinance specifically does not apply to restaurants. No idea what language is used to differentiate a club/bar from a restaurant, but at least there are some exceptions in there....

Commented on City May Designate First Local Historic District
Um Shilli, it looks like you've got a post talking about how this is a big deal, and then two comments saying that this won't change anything. Maybe I'm misunderstanding? I'm almost done with this bottle of wine so maybe...

Commented on Foodie Rodents, Weepy Whites, City of Lights!: New Movie Releases
That depends on how you define "best" health care. If you mean "best care if money is no object", then sure, US is tops. If you mean "best mean/median care" or "most complete coverage", then you'll get a much different...
