Austinist Interviews SXSW: Lovedrug

The good people of Austin realize that SXSW is a time to capitalize on the teeming hoards of dirty musicians rolling in to town in vans and pulling trailers. Especially those good people who own parking spaces. Finding a parking spot during the week is like discovering the purple diamond the old lady dropped into the ocean at the end of Titanic. Ohio's Lovedrug is one such band who has encountered this parking problem. Singer/guitarist Michael Shepard and guitarist David Thomas Owen IV share the story and their hope for finding bbq tacos.
How do your parents describe your music to people?
David: I just told them I was still in the marching band ... I mean they don't go to games anymore, so I'm good.
Is rock and roll dead?
David: Rock and roll is never dead. It's a spirit, an idea, it's a vision. I'm not too sure your going to find any of that on the radio these days though. Unless its CREED!!!
Michael: Music changes lives, rock n roll still changes lives, distortion pedals change lives, Thai food changes lives. So...no... It's probably not dead...yet.
What music are you looking forward to in 2007? At SXSW specifically?
David: Welp, i'm really looking forward to Andrew Bird. He is the cats ass, man.
Michael: Colour Revolt is an amazing band. I hope they are playing.
Is SXSW still fun if most of the people watching you play are industry?
David: Its not the industry people that get to me....its the unbelievably bad, disastrous, joke of a parking situation.....damn.
Michael: Yeah... the parking attendants always say, "No vans and trailers!" and "NO BANDS CAN PARK HERE!" ... are you kidding ... everyone there is in a band with a van and trailer!
What do you never want to see inside a tortilla?
David: A small green frog giving birth to a twin pair of miniature rabbits.
Michael: pigs feet
BBQ or Tacos?
David: No doubt the BBQ!
Michael: BBQ tacos.
Margaritas or beer?
David: Depends on the time of day.
Michael: Margaritas for breakfast, beer for lunch, whiskey for dinner.
Parties or distro deal?
David: Both. Sign the deal at the damn party! There's nothing better than inkin' a deal after a couple whiskeys.
Michael: Burn the parties ... Roll up and smoke the deals ... Then throw a party in memory of it.
Lovedrug plays will play various gigs during SXSW, including their official show at The Rio on March 17th.

So what is this news I hear that their new cd matches up perfectly to Edward Scissorhands. Someone mentioned that you put the CD/iPod on shuffle and repeat and turn on the movie. That's pretty flippin cool. I think the album is called everything starts where it ends
If you get high enough you can do that with almost any CD and movie combination.
