Austin Premiere of Fast Food Nation
As you may have read months ago, Richard Linklater’s Fast Food Nation took Cannes by storm earlier this year. The hometown folks will get to see what all the hullaballo’s about next Tuesday, as the Austin Film Society and Sustainable Food Center will be screening the Austin premiere of the fictional adaptation of Eric Schlosser’s best-selling book.
“We are thrilled to premiere this powerful film in Austin and to partner with Sustainable Food Center to emphasize its important message," AFS Executive Director Rebecca Campbell said. "We have premiered all of Richard's films to the Austin community, and all of the proceeds benefit the Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund and other programs of the Austin Film Society."
In the spirit of the film, the Sustainable Food Center will also host a special Austin Farmers’ Market on Congress Avenue.
“This is a perfect partnership between two innovative groups – SFC and AFS,” SFC Director of Development and Community Relations Molly Jensen said. “The film raises awareness and interest about the source and quality of the food we eat, and our Austin Farmers’ Market enables people to buy fresh, local and nutritious produce directly from the farmer who grows it.”
Tickets are $10 for AFS members and $15 for the general public (although more like $22 after all the charges online). AFS member discount is available only at the Paramount box office (512.472.2901).
VIP tickets are $75 for AFS members and $100 for the general public and are on sale through the AFS Web site. VIP tickets include reserved orchestra seating in the theatre and entry into the VIP premiere party at the Whole Foods Market Rooftop Plaza.
