If This Ad Makes You Want to Vote for Rick Perry...You Might Be a Redneck
What do you do if you have a shit ton of money and all of your taste is in your mouth?
Well, if you're Governor Rick Perry, the answer is rip-off one of the most asinine advertising campaigns in recent memory to produce a xenophobic and homophobic slander of your opponent Chris Bell. Using voiceover and music approximating the horribly obnoxious Bud Lite Real Men of Genius ads, Perry and his band of communications fools have developed Mr. Way Too Liberal for Texas Guy. Listen to the despicable ad here. We suggest you keep an air-sickness trash bag nearby in which to vomit.

We imagine, more than anything, this is just a call to rally white male voters in Perry's base. It certainly does nothing to sway undecided voters or those wavering on their support of another candidate.

Sure, this ad may be stupid, but all the facts about Chris Bell in it are true. Do you hate it when the truth about your favorite candiate comes out or something? People who listen to this ad will actual receive valuable, factual information about Chris Bell. They can choose how they want that information to influence their vote in the upcoming election.

This ad is essentially a Perry camp circle jerk and isn't going to influence anyone who hasn't already made up their mind. If any of these facts were actually disparaging they wouldn't need the smarmy delivery. Yes, Bell is actually *for* independent oversight of elections to prevent voter fraud/election rigging, voted to not give tax breaks to the highest tax brackets and proposed to not deny critical health services to immigrants. Either you think these are good things or not.
I heard this ad this morning for the first time and I thought it was pretty funny not to mention thought provoking. This post sounds a bit defensive to me. And I am not a "white male" or a redneck. I am also not a decided voter.
And if you hate the ad so much, why not just refute it instead of calling Perry names and calling him "gay" and insulting Republicans, rednecks and white males? You don't like slander when it comes to Bell but you seem to think it's ok for you to do it.

hahah...I just have a few thoughts. 1 In my opinon, Perry is a douchebag; 2 this commercial is hillarious; 3 Austinist (and apparently a lot of their readers) takes itself WAY too seriously if they can't see the humor; 4 Y'all actually think anyone has a chance of beating the Perry Juggernaut? I'm born and bred Austin, Texas, my dad's right of Rush, I voted for Perry against Sanchez because at least Perry wasn't a drug trafficker, but hell, I prefer Kinky over the whole mess. I still identify more with the right than anything else, but I'm not a redneck, homophobe, uneducated, or whatever else Austinist seems to think the add evokes. Everyone should just chill out, it could always be worse.

Don't get me wrong, this ad *is* funny. It sounds like the result of Perry hiring Beavis and Butthead for his advertising agency, a really juvenille attack ad. The best part is the all they do is label Bell a liberal. Bell's a liberal?!! There's a shocker. Anyone who didn't already know that by the time they hear this ad has other issues.

He's attempting to railroad us into accepting toll roads on our already-paid-for roads, so we can pay for the Trans Texas Corridor, a mass superhighway that will connect Mexico to Canada via the US. There won't be a border at the Mexico-Texas border any longer. The first customs stops for all the trucks coming from Mexico with drugs, arms, human trafficking, will be in Kansas City, MO. Can you imagine what will happen to Texas when these criminals can leave the TTC anywhere in our state BEFORE the first customs stop, to drop off its "cargo"? Rick Perry is the designer of this little cutie and he lied on the debates saying that we voted for these toll roads. And by the way, he is gay. A friend in the arts revealed that Perry brings gay guys to the Capitol building blindfolded to give him blow jobs. Like the guys won't know who they're blowing. Unbelievable! What a hypocrite!
