New Austin Sport: Mojo Kickball

mojokickball.jpg

There's a new Austin sport on the scene called "Mojo Kickball" whose website makes it sound as unconventional and quirky as the city where it was born:

Imagine if Kickball was out drunk one night and started making out with Tag. Then Dodgeball comes into the Club and is like, "Hello, what's this?" and then joins in. But just at that moment, the Club announces that it's last call and that everyone has to leave. But no one is sober enough to drive, so they ask their old pal Touch-football to drive them home, who graciously obliges.

3 weeks later, Kickball realizes it's pregnant, but doesn't know who the father is. But it's cool, because everyone pitches in. 9 Months later, Little Mojo Kickball is born into a caring loving family consisting of 1 mother and 3 fathers.

The quick version of the rules is even more intriguing:

The game is timed and divided into four 12-minute quarters.
Whoever gets the most runs wins.
There are 6 balls in play at all times.
The Pitcher is on the Kicking Team.
The Kicking Team has Chasers "tag" Fielders to get the balls back.
Six balls in play at all times in a game that has elements of dodgeball, tag, and touch football? Sounds like some fun chaos. The games take place every few weeks (see schedule) and those interested can sign up to receive evites for them)

For all of us lazy punks who need exercise but hate it, this looks like it could be a lot of fun.
