What's Today? Third Thursday!
So we all know about First Thursdays down south, but have you ever heard of Third Thursday…well don’t feel bad if you haven’t. Today is the first Third Thursday on Guadalupe. Yeah, that’s right, there will be music, fun, dancing, festivities, food and more brought to you by local businesses along Guadalupe. Within the Guadalupe IBIZ District, there are more than one hundred locally owned, independent businesses and just about all are hosting something special every Third Thursday. What is the Guadalupe IBIZ you may ask…
The Austin Independent Business Alliance (AIBA), in partnership with other organizations, independent businesses and neighborhood associations, has launched a new program called Independent Business Investment Zones (IBIZ). The first is the Guadalupe IBIZ District , which includes about fifteen blocks of Guadalupe Street, from 23rd Street on the south to 38th Street on the north, and adjacent businesses within a block east and west.
There will be extra bike racks at the Yellow Bike Project office in the Wheatsville Co-op parking lot and you can catch free rides up and down Guadalupe on the Duck from Austin Duck Adventures. The fun starts at 6pm and goes on until 10pm. We hope this Third Thursday catches on like its cousin down south. Giving us yet another reason to go out early on a thursday night.
